A tired Sunday....

Last night after watching two movies at the theater with Anne, I was excited to hit the mattress and hoped to drift off to sleep quickly. I work every Sunday from 9:30 to 6, so I try to rest up so I am chipper on the job. So why is it, when I want to fall asleep the most, I can't? I tossed and turned for what seemed like hours and my head spun around numerous thoughts about nothing that mattered. I wasn't making grocery list or deciding what I was going to wear, I was thinking about nothing really. Nothing that was going to help the day or upcoming week go easier. I wasn't making goals, or middle of the night promises to myself to improve... that would have been worth while in a sense. My brain was depriving myself of sleep for pointlessness.

I had decided that Sunday (today) was going to be my big day. I was going to start working out more often, make my eating habits healthier than ever, and make improvements on the apartment. It was going to be the first day of the rest of my life. BUT this morning I woke up and snoozed my alarm so many times that I needed to set a new one because it timed out. Oh, and I woke up with a snuffy nose. I took so much time out of my morning by oversleeping, I had to grab a granola bar for breakfast, instead of the bowl of oatmeal I was hoping to have. So now I am hungry, sleep deprived, and I have a headache.

Maybe I will just make tomorrow be the first day of the rest of my life....

Back to the real world...

I just got off the phone with my boss, Dan. He asked me how life in the great tundra was, in one word... AMAZING.

The great tundra he was referring to was Silver Bay. I went up to my parents on December 21st, and was around the North Shore for until last Thursday. The time flew and I am back in Rochester still trying to figure out how it is already almost the middle of January 2009!!!

Let's play catch up:
There was a snowstorm the day of the Wright's Christmas Party, so my family decided it was bast to stay in Rochester. It was a bummer to miss it, but as traffic reports came in later that evening, I think everyone was relieved we decided to stay safe and sound in the apartment.

My mom's family Christmas was in the Cities the following day, and the weather was on our side, and we were able to enjoy ourselves at my aunt's that Sunday afternoon. It was nice to see my cousin's kids, that are four of the world's cutest! After the gift exchange was done, my parents and I headed North, and Anne headed back to Rochester alone.

After the LONG drive north, I was ready for bed!!! Greeted at the door by my faithfully loyal cat I hulled my three suitcases into the guest bedroom, and slept like a rock! The next day, I visited with Miranda for a bit then headed to Coho to wait tables and chat with locals. It felt great to be back at the cafe, and the tips made it even better! After work I went over to Anna and Mike's house for a little gossip with Anna. Found out the latest from the Bluefin world, and for such a little place there is always a lot to learn!!! The bast part of the night was actually in a form of a question... will I be the Godmother of the baby they are expecting?!?!? OF course!!! I am stoked to be able to spoil little Mike JR. Yes, it's a boy!!!

That night I went back to Quincy's where Miranda was having a few friends over for games and cookies. I don't think I got there until around two, but the two Mirms still had energy!!! They never fail to amaze me with their hilarity. I learned the Miranda way to play Macala, and though I know they are completly wrong with the rules, it amazes me that they both really thought it was the right way. The version of the game is fun, but really confusing. Play with one of them sometime, and they will kick your butt.

Okay, so I realize that this post is already getting very long so now I am just going to cover the highlights:
-- Anne was able to come up for Christmas, and the family went to mass on Christmas Eve. I helped decorate the church earlier that week, and it looked nice. We all had a part in making Christmas dinner, and everyone got the items on their wish lists, so we were all happy!
-- Coho was busy, and the few shifts I picked up, the tips were good! :)
--Molly and I are both really poor planners, so as New Year's approached, neither of us could make final plans. Unfortunately, for the first time in a few years, we rang in the new year without each other. My New Year's was spent in Tofte, and was really low-key. Anna and I spent the evening watching movies, playing games, drinking non-alkies (have to keep my baby--in her tummy-- healthy!!!), and of course pigging out!!! It was a perfect way to start the New Year, except for a slight problem with my eye.

Something must have gotten into it, because it was red, swollen and watering. It was like a sore thumb for about a week, but it is finally feeling better! I haven't tried wearing my contact quite yet, but I think it shouldn't be a problem.
-- In 2009, I finally got to see my Molly!!! We hadn't gotten together since BEFORE she left for Italy, and even our families started to get anxious about us getting together. She came North the Saturday after New Years, and practically moved into my parent's house. We went and saw Emma, and her not-so-new puppy, Bella.
-- Anne's 25 birthday was the 5th, and we had a low-key celebration the 4th and the 5th. Enjoyed lunch with Shawn and baby Aiden at the Lemon Wolf, and a dinner at Coho. I had never been a dinner diner at Coho, and it was nice to be served rather than the server!!!
-- Molly and I went bowling with her mom... and it had been a while since I ACTUALLY bowled, and although I may be awesome at Wii, I barely broke 100 at the alley. Not going pro anytime soon, but it was a blast. I also learned how to bowl the "right way". using two lanes at once. Since it was just the three of us everyone was almost constantly bowling. That same day we headed over to the high school to watch the boy's and girl's basketball games. The girls started out good, but something happened in the second half and they were smashed, BUT the boys played awesomely and won a close game. It was fun to be able to catch the game, I haven't watched silver bay basketball since I was a member of the team!!!
-- That week Molly and I had plans to be lazy at her family's home on Park Point with her mom. Unfortunately, Loranda's step-dad passed away, so before we were able to enjoy our time at Casa Bay (the cute name they came up with for the house), Loranda had to head down to the Cities. Molly had an othro apt. on Thursday morning, so the two of us stayed at the house and hung out. I have to say, it was HARD to leave. Very hard. I could move into that house. Leaving the house also meant saying good-bye to Molly. At least now that she's back in the country we can text again!

Being back in Rochester means my vacation is over. My room is a mess, school is starting tomorrow, there is laundry to do, and I still have to buy my books!!! I am also looking for another part time job, because I only get a few shifts per week at the club. I have a feeling I will be busy this week!!!

As I had originally planned on being back at Northgate yesterday, I had to find a last minute replacement to cover my shift. Anne had been wanting to make it to Vatican Splendors in the cities, and Saturday was the only day that worked for the whole family. So we all met up in the Cities to view the exhibit. It was really cool being able to learn about the Vatican, and the history behind it all. Mom also came with a box full of stuff I had forgotten at the house.. OOPS!

So now I am back at work, obviously working hard by the length of this post!! I am already missing the Lake, the people, the life. Can't wait to sneak north sometime soon!!
